County touts new cradle‑to‑career tracking but warns partner adoption lags

County workforce officials said they have developed a data system to track students through career pathways and program participation, aiming to reach up to 69,000 middle and high school students in Prince George's County. Walter told the committee the county will offer the system free to partners to facilitate cradle‑to‑career tracking but acknowledged low uptake: "We have 238 signed MOU partners. Right now, only 6 have agreed to use the system because they're using other systems," he said.
Officials said limited partner adoption hinders the county's ability to aggregate program participation, completion and employment outcomes across providers. The county also plans to relocate and expand the Suitland Youth Career Center using a $200,000 bond appropriation to increase capacity and better connect partners. Staff said the county will continue outreach events and provide staff to work with school counselors and local events to increase student contact and program sign‑ups.
Council members requested school‑level breakdowns of counselor assignments and asked OHRM to provide district pull‑lists and follow‑up metrics so the committee can assess whether investments should be sustained or expanded.
