The Saginaw Board of Education accepted the superintendent’s evaluation and approved two contract amendments after reconvening from a closed session on May 20, 2026.
Vice President J. Nash told the board that, based on the collective evaluation, "Dr. Roberts has been evaluated to be an outstanding superintendent. He shows obvious caring for our students, our staff, parents, our community, and our Board." The board voted to accept the evaluation by voice vote, 6–0.
Following the evaluation, the board approved an amendment to Article 10, Section B of the superintendent’s contract that—if the superintendent remains with the district until June 30, 2027—allows him to sell back all unused sick days with no cap at a rate of $330.00 per day. The board also approved an amendment to Article 10, Section E to provide a $750 monthly automobile allowance. Both amendments passed by voice vote, Ayes 6, Nays 0.
The motions were moved and seconded on the record: Mrs. Nash moved acceptance of the evaluation (supported by Mrs. Seals), and Mrs. Seals moved the contract amendments (supported by Mrs. Nash). The board had entered closed session earlier in the evening for the superintendent’s evaluation on a motion by Ms. Knapp (supported by Mrs. Nash); the roll-call vote to enter closed session carried 6–0.
The board did not record any dissenting votes on the amendments. The actions take effect as reflected in the amended contract language approved during the meeting.
What’s next: the board listed its upcoming meetings for budget review and adoption in June 2026; no additional action on the superintendent’s contract was recorded at the meeting.
