The board accepted staff recommendation to appoint assistant county attorney Kelsey A. Hopps to fill the county attorney vacancy effective Sept. 12, 2025. The HR presenter noted the board received cover letters and resumes from internal candidates and after review selected Hopps to serve the remainder of Donald F. Ryan's term.
Commissioners offered congratulatory remarks and several praised Ryan's steady leadership and expressed confidence in Hopps. Hopps addressed the board and said she looked forward to the role: "I'm super excited to step into this new role and continue the momentum that Mr. Ryan has pushed through for 31 years," she said.
