Commission approves Shimley deck rebuild and covered deck with stormwater measures

Travis Miller, the applicant's authorized agent, said they will "protect that deck" and implement a stormwater management plan with planting areas, gutters and rain barrels to capture runoff and proposed a berm to keep inland water from reaching the shoreline. The board reviewed the certificate of survey and the applicant's mitigation measures; after hearing no public testimony, a motion to approve the variance with the three staff conditions was moved, seconded and passed.
The commission emphasized that the approval is final for the described plan and that permits from Land Services must be obtained before work begins.
