Planning commission approves interim use permit for cannabis microbusiness with operating hours limit

The Crow Wing County planning commission voted to approve an interim use permit for a cannabis microbusiness that would include retail sales, manufacturing and cultivation of flowering cannabis within a 5,000‑square‑foot canopy.
"I would like to make a motion to approve the interim use permit for cannabis micro business," a commission member said before the motion passed. Staff told the commission the permit language had undergone legal review and includes the conditions listed in the staff report. The board added an hours‑of‑operation condition — 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily — during final discussion.
The applicant was told that the approval is final and that any future changes would require a new application, survey and fees to the board. Staff reminded the applicant that building permits from the Land Services department must be obtained before construction starts. The commission recorded the motion, a second and then a voice vote; the chair declared the motion carried.
