Human services wins: SSIS replacement funding, MN Choices changes and AMRTC investments

Nancy Silevski, MICA’s public health and human services representative, told the board that three county priorities advanced this session. She said SSIS replacement was funded at $35,000,000 in the human services bill, and with $10,000,000 set aside previously, counties should be able to draw down roughly $45,000,000 with federal match to replace legacy systems. “Putting that together, we've got $45,000,000 that we're gonna be able to now draw down, federal dollars,” Silevski said.
Silevski outlined MN Choices changes that permit more abbreviated reassessments (and remote reassessments up to four times in a row followed by a full reassessment), allow verbal attestation to start services with written attestation to follow, and add timeline expectations for assessment completion. She also described appropriations for direct care and treatment at AMRTC, including phased funding to increase bed capacity and operating support.
