A board member opened the remarks by saying, “Over the past 3.5 decades, Therese Norwood has been a cornerstone of the Crow Wing County team,” noting she prepared “over 2,000 meeting agendas” and “compiled minutes from almost 1,500 meetings.” Norwood addressed the board and reflected on starting work as a 19-year-old and the many coworkers and supervisors she had over the years: “It's hard to believe it's been 35 years since I first walked through the doors of this very building,” she said.
The chair presented a certificate of excellence and commissioners and staff exchanged personal thanks and photos. The county attorney and the sheriff each offered brief remarks honoring Norwood’s service; the county attorney said he attended the meeting specifically because it was Norwood’s last day. The board closed the recognition and moved on to routine business.
