County orders freeze-thaw load limits in LaGrange Township, approves resurfacing project in New Russia Township

The board unanimously approved a 25% freeze-thaw load limit on several township roads in LaGrange Township effective Feb. 1 through May 1, 2026, citing Ohio Revised Code Section 5577.07 and a township trustees' resolution requesting the restriction. The roads named included Biggs Road, Indian Hollow Road and Wheeler Road among others where reduced load limits protect pavements during thaw periods.
Separately, the board voted to find that public convenience and welfare require resurfacing Pyle-South Amherst Road (LOR-CR16-0.00) in New Russia Township and ordered the County Engineer to advertise for bids. The resolution notes estimated costs are in excess of $50,000 and authorizes use of appropriate road improvement funds. Commissioners said the engineer presented surveys, plans and cost estimates supporting the need for resurfacing.
