Staff gave a high-level walk-through of the Enbrel affordability report’s public sections, noting that confidential manufacturer and PBM pricing information has been redacted from the public version. Marina Suzuki highlighted sections the board can use to compare therapeutic alternatives, efficacy and safety, and patient cost trends drawn from Washington’s APCD.
"This is Marina Suzuki. I'm the head of economics research manager," Marina said before summarizing the report structure and pointing members to summary tables under each indication. Staff described public patient-cost tables and five-year trend graphs (2019–2023) for co-pay and coinsurance metrics; they noted tables show the three most-used NDCs in Washington and explained some year-to-year variability may reflect changing insurance-plan mixes.
Staff explained major pricing inputs (WAC, AMP, rebates, PBM payments) and some manufacturer-supplied figures are confidential and will be discussed in closed executive session. Members were directed to advisory group reports and to a public therapeutic-summary document (for Xtandi) for additional clinical context.
Why it matters: The Enbrel public report gives board members and the public clinical and utilization context, while the confidential pricing information kept for the executive session will inform any affordability determinations.
