McLean trustees say prior bookkeeping errors delay accurate fund balances; audit due end of February

Treasurer Marcy Seeman told the Village of McLean Board of Trustees on Jan. 5 that prior bookkeeping errors have left the official balance sheets inaccurate and that a final audit is expected by the end of February.
"Due to prior bookkeeping errors, balance sheets do not yet accurately reflect fund balances," Seeman said, and she told trustees the audit should resolve discrepancies so the board can rely on corrected figures for the spring appropriations process. Trustees were told the board plans to begin discussions of appropriation amounts after the April 6 meeting and that the appropriations ordinance must be passed between May and July.
Trustees approved the monthly bills by roll call (yes votes from Trustees Mattson, Page, Kirby, Gordon and Dawdy) after questions about pending bills were answered. President Daniel Biehl and Treasurer Seeman said final audited balances are expected in time for the March meeting and that the board will not finalize budget decisions until the audit closes.
The audit timeline was explicitly tied to other agenda items: a Colton Ag & Equipment reimbursement request was tabled until after the audit, and trustees were asked to provide availability for appropriation discussions in the spring. The board recorded no new budget appropriations at the Jan. 5 meeting.
