Juvenile rehabilitation population shows high co-occurring behavioral health needs

DCYF presenters described how the dashboard supports program planning in juvenile rehabilitation facilities, where staff already expected high behavioral-health needs but welcome the dashboard's clearer population measures.
"The mental health treatment need is 28 percent, plus the SUD treatment need of 9 percent, plus the co-occurring disorder treatment need of 39 percent," Vicky Ybarra said, summarizing figures the JR clinical director has used for staff training and decision packages. She added that only a small minority of youth in JR have no known need.
Presenters said the dashboard helps with quality assurance and continuous quality improvement (QA/CQI) of clinical services and supports requests for resources based on documented need.
