Budget staff reviewed personnel reclassification requests during the July 30 meeting and said all requested changes are reclassifications of existing positions, not creation of new posts. The total financial impact of the reclassifications is $89,800, staff said.
Items included reclassifying two police communications operators to team leads; changing the fire administrative assistant to an executive secretary; reclassifying firefighter II positions to fire engineers within EMS operations; and multiple municipal court clerk reclassifications, including establishing level 2 and level 3 positions. Staff also proposed converting a part-time kennel assistant to a full-time kennel assistant in animal control. Council asked clarifying questions and indicated they would consider the personnel items along with the broader budget on Aug. 18.
