Rx Kids cash-support program to launch April 1; presenter says Montmorency secured multi-year private support

Patrick Heraghty of the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan presented an overview of Rx Kids, a public–private prenatal and infant cash prescription program.
Heraghty said funding is available during pregnancy and for six months after birth from public and private partners and that a private donation will help support Montmorency County for about three years. He said Thunder Bay Community Health will connect pregnant mothers to the program and that Rx Kids will launch April 1 and is not income-based. The program materials in the packet note typical benefits: $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 per month for infants for the first six to 12 months in communities where the program operates.
