The McLeansboro Township Board voted March 11, 2025 to adopt Resolution 2025-1 opposing proposed state legislation that would consolidate township government with county government. Supervisor Clydus Gray moved for adoption and Becky Cross seconded; the motion carried.
Gray described communications received about Senate bills SB 2217 and SB 2504 and asked township officials to contact Senator Suzy Hilton of District 23 and other representatives in opposition. "Supervisor Gray made a motion to adopt Resolution 2025-1 which opposes the consolidation with County government," the minutes state. The board directed that copies of the resolution be sent to the township's state representatives.
