The Montmorency County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 26 acknowledged the immediate resignation of Commissioner Michelle LaRose and declared the District 4 seat vacant.
Chair Mary Hardies moved the acknowledgement, and Commissioner Lloyd Peltier seconded. The board read a public statement accepting letters of interest from registered electors in District 4; letters are due to the Controller's Office by March 5, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. The board said it will review submissions and vote to appoint a replacement at the March 12, 2026 meeting. The board also recorded temporary committee reassignment decisions and authorized Controller Aprille Williamson to act as proxy for one committee until an appointee is seated.
