The Montmorency County Board of Commissioners approved an invasive-species grant request from the Avalon Lake Property Owners Association on March 26, 2026. Judy Nichols, the association's secretary, requested county assistance to pay for public liability insurance and a bi-annual invasive-species survey.
Commissioner Mary Hardies moved and Commissioner James Madison seconded a motion "to utilize the funds from the Invasive Species for the public liability insurance and the bi-annual survey but not to exceed $2000.00." The motion passed unanimously (Yeas: 5; Nays: 0). The board directed staff to process the payment and report back once funds are expended.
