On Aug. 26, 2025, resident and correspondent Leanne Finlay emailed city staff and local reporters asking them to correct an Aug. 22 news story that quoted a 1988 report as stating nearby Noble Creek was “at great risk of failure.” Finlay said she had obtained a copy of the Aug. 20, 1988 consulting geologist report and that, after reviewing the document, she had not found language asserting the ravine or bluff was at “great risk of failure.”
Finlay cited specific paragraphs recommending that runoff disposal practices avoid concentrating water near the bluff edge and suggested alternatives such as piping water down the bluff face or connecting streets to storm sewers. She attached the 1988 report and requested that the newspaper publish a correction.
