Members of the Tennessee House of Representatives devoted several floor remarks to the state's response to a recent, severe winter storm, thanking linemen, National Guard troops and local emergency personnel while marking the human toll.
Mayor Lambert told the chamber that "we still lost, at last count, 23 Tennesseans due to this storm," and he thanked TDOT employees, sheriffs, volunteers and linemen. Representative Hemmer and others echoed gratitude for the National Guard and relief crews; Representative Sparks cited a figure for Middle Tennessee Electric and said many residents still lacked power. Several members asked for moments of silence for those who died in different counties.
