The Lynwood Police Department reported 581 calls for service since the Nov. 25 meeting, including 57 traffic stops, 6 arrests and 7 guns recovered. The department also reported 227 building checks, 16 domestic incidents and 80 ordinance violations. Police noted a holiday enforcement campaign running Dec. 12–Jan. 5 focused on speeding, seat belts, car seats and distracted driving, and said two new officers will begin the police academy on Jan. 5, 2026.
Fire Chief LaShaun Alston reported 74 incidents during the reporting period (including 39 ambulance calls, one building fire and multiple accidents). The fire department expects one EMT to graduate from the Fire Academy this month and three firefighters to start paramedic school in January 2026, with coursework and clinical requirements expected to complete by Dec. 2026. The department has begun an ISO rating evaluation that could affect insurance premiums for local properties once finalized.
