The council reported formation of an "Island Navigation Network" committee to coordinate with local nonprofits and service organizations and to help residents access services, build sector liaisons, and strengthen 1:1 relationships in emergencies. Jessica Anakar gave an overview of the committee's mission to partner with service providers and to serve as an integrating body.
Diane Emerson and board members also recognized volunteers and advisory-committee chairs for 2024 and highlighted a new webpage to help islanders create accessory dwelling units. Pamela Gott, president of the Vashon Rotary Club, announced a Rotary global day of service with island beach cleanups planned for May 17 and invited community participation.
Council leaders asked members to volunteer for committees and to support the incoming board, which will be smaller than a full 12-member roster; members were reminded of a volunteer recognition potluck and encouraged to help sustain the organization's workload.
