Community council approves $6,000 budget for 2025, flags $5,000 King County grant

Tammy Dye, VMCC treasurer, walked members through the proposed 2025 budget and explained why projected expenses rose to around $6,000 from prior years (additional insurance, website costs, extra Zoom seats and occasional facility rentals tied to larger meetings). She said anticipated revenue was modest — roughly $1,000 from Strawberry Festival fundraising and member donations — and that a $5,000 King County Community Connector grant remaining in the bank provided a cushion for next year.
"So what the budget looks like is overall expenses of $6,000. Right now, overall revenue expected to be $1,000," Dye said, noting the budget assumes modest fundraising and possible grants. Members asked for more detail about the origin of the $6,000 carryover; Dye and others confirmed the $5,000 King County grant was awarded in 2023 but paid in 2024 and remained in the account.
After brief questions about expected revenue and contingency plans, the membership voted to approve the 2025 budget. The chair reported 49 total votes with 46 in favor and 3 opposed; the budget passed.
