Douglass Township asks solicitor to research "Do Not Knock" registry and sump pump ordinance amendment

Manager Andrew Duncan told the Board he has received resident complaints about door-to-door solicitation and asked whether the Township can implement a registry to opt out of solicitations or strengthen background-check requirements. The Board authorized Solicitor Wendy McKenna to research the legalities of limiting or eliminating door-to-door solicitations and options for background checks.
Duncan also said McKenna's office is looking into amending Chapter 222 rather than enacting a standalone sump-pump ordinance to address sump pump discharge and compliance. The motions to authorize research on solicitation legalities and to explore the Chapter 222 amendment passed unanimously. The minutes do not record a timetable for McKenna's report back to the Board.
