The Cromwell Middle School Building Committee voted unanimously July 22 to approve invoices presented by Newfield Construction, Arcadis and Perkins Eastman totaling $298,810.21. The motion was made by Matt Blanchette and seconded by Ken Jackson.
Jack Butkus, representing the project consultants, told the committee the work is "very close to closeout" but flagged a state requirement that is complicating final payments: the state is requesting canceled checks for every payment submitted in the drawdown. Butkus also reported the current Owner’s Contingency balances: $1,997,460.23 for CMS and $88,074.69 for the Central Office. The committee approved the invoices as presented, allowing payment to proceed.
Committee members did not debate the individual invoice line items in detail during the meeting. The approval moves the project further toward financial closeout; the consultants said they will continue to work through the state documentation requirement.
