Treasurer Cynthia O'Donnell told the Douglass Township Board of Supervisors on Nov. 5 that preliminary work with department heads shows a 2026 budget deficit of $759,288.94. She said the township has identified $52,500 of additional income and proposed removing several expense items (including $147,335 for road construction/maintenance and $62,438 for police station improvements), which would lower the deficit to $304,656.59 if approved or financed from capital reserves.
Ms. O'Donnell recommended holding a staff workshop to identify further cuts and review revenue options. Manager Andrew Duncan agreed and the board voted to advertise a Special Meeting for a full 2026 budget review on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025 at 3:00 p.m.; the tentative adoption of the budget is scheduled for Nov. 17, 2025 with final adoption review and advertisement on Dec. 15, 2025. The treasurer also noted that receipt of a multimodal grant for the County Line Road Bridge would reduce the shortfall but said the grant outcome is not yet known.
