Mackinac County board approves opioid grants, appoints jury board member and signs medical examiner contract

The Mackinac County Board of Commissioners met July 23 in the Annex Boardroom and approved several routine but consequential items, including recommendations from the county Opioid Committee and a contract for medical examiner services. Chair Mike Patrick called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. and the board recorded a unanimous roll-call vote on each formal action taken.
On motions moved by Commissioner Austin Kimberling and seconded as noted, the board approved the Opioid Committee's grant recommendations, appointed Mary Kay Tamlyn to fill the remaining term on the Jury Board following the death of Ron Tamlyn, and authorized Chair Patrick to sign a medical examiner contract with Dr. Matthew Bowes. The board also approved regular bills totaling $247,676.08, additional bills of $123,776.32 and juror payments of $4,754.67, and enacted budget amendments #26-27, #26-28 and #26-29. The meeting was adjourned at 4:49 p.m.
