The Charles Town Parks & Recreation Board approved a dog swim event for Sunday, Aug. 25 as the final day at Jackson Memorial Park Pool and confirmed the event time as 3 to 5 p.m.
Chair described the plan to schedule the dog swim late in the day so regular users can still use the pool earlier; staff and board members discussed staffing levels for the event and the logistics of having ramps and steps to help dogs exit the pool. A board member moved to approve the dog swim, the motion received a second and the board voted unanimously: "Unanimously approved for the 25th, 3 to 5PM," the chair said.
Staff will produce a Google form to collect availability for a photo opportunity and coordinate volunteers; the board noted the dog swim is feasible because the pool systems will be removed as part of the renovation and staff does not expect filtration concerns to prevent the event.
