City will offer fall tennis lessons through county partnership; instructor keeps majority share

Parks staff told the Charles Town Parks & Recreation Board Aug. 14 that fall tennis lessons will continue through a partnership with the county and a single lead instructor, Jorge, who led summer programming.
Staff described a revenue split of approximately 65% to the instructor, 20% to the city and 15% to the county. "So 65 to the instructor, 20 to the city, and 15 to the county," a staff member said while clarifying registration pricing. Registrations for youth lessons were estimated at about $180 and adult lessons at about $200.
Staff said the fall program will be advertised and should not interfere with the Jefferson Junior Leagues; the city intends to formalize agreements via a memoranda of understanding with county Parks & Recreation and the city attorney this fall. The board welcomed the update and asked staff to return any draft MOU for review.
