Girl Scouts donate bench as Bronze Award project at Jefferson Memorial Pool

The Charles Town Parks & Recreation Board paused its agenda Aug. 14 to welcome Girl Scouts who donated a decorated picnic bench to Jefferson Memorial Pool as part of a Bronze Award project.
"Hi. I'm Ariana, and this is my troop," Ariana said as she introduced the group and described the bench-building and decorating work. The troop explained they wanted to add seating where the pool had few benches; board members thanked them and discussed logistics for placing the tables while the pool is closed and arranging a photo for the board's online viewers.
Board members praised the project as a community contribution and arranged to have staff follow up on temporary storage and placement while the pool undergoes work. The board invited the troop to a photo opportunity and public recognition once dates are finalized.
