Committee hears updates on classes, driver recognition and Senior Living Expo

The Price County Council on Aging Advisory Committee received several senior services updates at its April 13 meeting. The committee noted a volunteer driver recognition lunch is scheduled for April 21 at Maries on Fayette. Mind Over Matter classes (Healthy Bowels/Healthy Bladder) ran in January and April at local senior sites and were well attended.
Minutes say Kathy Shimkits from NTC visited the Ogema dining site on April 8 and will teach technology topics in Kennan on April 29 and at the Park Falls library; her classes have been well received. The Senior Farmer's Market Nutrition Program will have fewer coupon books in 2026—106 compared with 117 in 2025—because ARPA funding was not available, per the minutes. The committee also confirmed the Senior Living Expo is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Armory in Phillips and discussed radio promotion and producing a newsletter to promote senior events.
