The Harbor Springs Planning Commission voted to schedule a public hearing for Aug. 20 to consider draft zoning revisions covering parking rules and building‑height limits in the Central Business District. Staff told the commission the draft language could be prepared for that meeting, and commissioners agreed to focus the near‑term effort on parking, building height and story limits rather than broader density items.
"We could have that prepared for the August 20 meeting," said a planning staff member (speaker 5), describing the timeline for drafting redline language. The motion to set the public hearing passed on a roll‑call vote of members present. The hearing will address proposed changes that staff said are intended to remedy unintended nonconformities in the current code and to define small private parking spaces and larger parking facilities distinctly.
