The Price County Council on Aging Advisory Committee reviewed a Nutrition Program and Program Financial Report at its April 13 meeting. Staff presented an average full cost per meal of $18.94 for January through December 2025; full cost per meal for individuals under 60 was reported at $21.49.
Minutes show Phillips Café identified as the nutrition meal contractor. Participant meal prices were listed as $5.30 in 2025 and $5.45 in 2026. Committee discussion said operational expenses were the largest increases, attributed in the minutes to a shortage of volunteers. The report also listed February total meals at 1,470 and March at 1,702.
An end-of-year review conducted with GWAAR was returned in March and flagged areas for improvement, including temperatures on delivery and that some meals had only two fruit/vegetable servings when the requirement is three. The committee said the dietician and the meal contractor were notified and that a Nutrition program assessment is planned later in the year. Members also discussed possibly shifting mealtimes from 11:00 a.m. toward noon or 12:30 p.m.
The minutes indicate detailed county expense and grant breakdowns will be available at the next meeting; the committee did not provide additional funding figures in the minutes.
