The Executive Committee voted to allow administration to solicit proposals for a consultant to advise on a major communications upgrade, including law‑enforcement radio equipment replacement, emergency management communications and potential cellular tower construction. Supervisors discussed the project scope and noted six in‑state consulting firms have the capability to bid on the work.
County administration estimated the overall program could cost up to $3.8 million. The motion to authorize the RFP (moved by Alan Barkstrom and seconded by Larry Palecek) carried. County officials said a consultant is needed because the equipment is at end‑of‑life and to ensure the most cost‑effective approach before committing capital funds.
