Alliance City Council holds strategic planning meeting; hears department reports and discusses ARPA allocation

Mayor John McGhehey opened the Alliance City Council strategic planning meeting at 1:00 p.m. April 2, 2026 in the Alliance Learning Center Community Meeting Room and read the Open Meetings Act announcement. Present were Vice Mayor Mashburn and Council Members Turman, Yates and Hitchcock, along with Co Interim City Managers Shoemaker and Brown and City Clerk Bedient.
Council members spent the session receiving department reports and discussing strategic priorities, including housing, infrastructure, safety, quality of life and economic development. The council also reviewed American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding allocations (the Community Redevelopment Authority Board had been allocated $350,000) and considered staff input on possible regulations for fireworks amid recent fires and drought. There were no formal motions or votes recorded. The meeting adjourned at 3:39 p.m.
