The Rangely Town Council voted to authorize the town attorney and the mayor to initiate negotiations related to the town manager's terms of service, separation and possible severance.
A council member moved "to provide the town attorney and the mayor to initiate and or conduct negotiations related to terms of service, separation, and possible severance of the town manager." The motion was seconded and, after brief discussion that cited items in the performance review packet and a desire to allow time for improvement, the mayor called the question and the motion carried by voice vote.
During discussion one council member said the performance review had identified areas for improvement and that a period of time should be allowed for the manager to address them. The council did not vote on separation itself; the approved motion merely authorized negotiations between the mayor and town attorney as the next procedural step.
