Fountain City committee recommends pay increases for three city employees

The Fountain City Police/Personnel & Health/Safety Committee voted Sept. 4 to recommend that the full council approve pay increases for three city employees.
Committee member Peter Schaffner moved and David Endres seconded a motion recommending that Gil Adams be increased to $97,240 annually, Marcia Larson be increased to $62,400 annually, and Jacob Beck be paid $24.75 per hour; the motion carried in open session. Mayor Ben Adank said he will draft a job description for additional staff at city hall and bring it back to the committee.
The recommendation followed a presentation of a salary study and a proposed certification pay structure for public works employees intended to bring local pay in line with comparable structures identified in the study. The committee had convened in closed session earlier to discuss hiring and compensation matters for general maintenance, the clerk‑treasurer, and the public works supervisor before returning to open session to make the recommendation.
The committee record shows the motion was moved by Schaffner and seconded by Endres and that the committee chair and members present carried the motion. The council will consider the committee's recommendation at a future meeting; no council action was recorded in the committee minutes.
