Staff to study zoning changes for sportsman clubs after Plan Commission initiation

The Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission voted to initiate a staff-led review of zoning text and comprehensive plan amendments related to sportsman clubs currently permitted in the PR2 Commercial Park Recreation District.
Rob told the commission staff may pursue a two-step approach: an initial overlay district to address immediate needs followed by broader zoning text and map amendments if required. He said staff has already spoken with landowners that could be affected and will continue outreach before bringing firm recommendations back to the commission. A motion to approve Plan Commission Resolution 24-22 initiating the review was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Commissioners asked about community input and staff confirmed they will work with property owners and evaluate permitted uses and conditional use permit standards as part of the review.
