The Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission approved Resolution 24-21 to amend the village comprehensive land use plan to reflect a completed floodplain boundary adjustment on a roughly 127-acre vacant parcel near the southwest corner of Highway 50 and 115th Avenue.
Staff reported that earlier work removed approximately 44,616 cubic yards of floodplain and created about 62,571 cubic yards to create buildable commercial sites outside the 100-year floodplain, and that FEMA had issued a LOMAR (cited in the staff presentation). The resolution directs updates to map 9.9 and appendix 10.3 of the comprehensive plan so land-use designations align with the amended floodplain boundary. Commissioners moved and seconded approval and the item passed by voice vote.
Staff noted property owners for which the regulatory floodplain adjustment was conducted remain subject to restrictions and must file an acknowledgment with the Kenosha County Register of Deeds accepting ongoing limitations tied to the property's previous floodplain status.
