Planning staff flags county data‑center ordinance and declines storage container amendment request

In the Feb. 12 meeting planner's report, Director Langer noted an email from the Livingston County Planning Commission about a draft data‑center ordinance; the Hartland Planning Commission agreed to discuss that county draft at a future meeting.
Langer also relayed a landowner request to consider an ordinance amendment to permit large storage/shipping containers on private properties. After a brief exchange commissioners expressed they were not interested in pursuing that amendment at this time. Commissioner McMullen later reminded the commission of Winterfest at Heritage Park on Feb. 14, 2026.
These items were informational and the commission placed the county data‑center ordinance on a future agenda for discussion rather than taking immediate action.
