Electric City seeks mediation with Grand Coulee on wastewater agreement; council flags operator contract concerns

Council members reviewed a letter the city sent to Grand Coulee asking for mediation to update the Interlocal Agreement that governs the wastewater treatment facility. Grand Coulee provided an Agreement for Certified Water Operator Services from SJ Environmental; Electric City council members said they had “several concerns” about the proposed contract and agreed to communicate those concerns back to Grand Coulee.
No formal action or vote was taken to change the Interlocal Agreement at the meeting. The issue was discussed during the department reports/unfinished business portion of the agenda and will remain on the council’s radar for follow up. Council also appointed an alternate member to the Wastewater Treatment Facility Joint Board of Operators (Councilmember Cheryl Hoffman) during new business.
