Town manager requests work session on animal shelter, previews rate study and boat-ramp timing

The town manager asked the council to schedule a work session before the next regular meeting to bring the council up to speed on the town's animal-shelter project and potential funding options. "I would like, if we can, set up a work meeting and talk a little bit about the animal shelter," he said, noting he has spoken with architects and potential funders.

The manager said he will also present findings from a third‑party rate study for the water and sewer enterprises that will list inputs, anticipated capital projects and proposed rate structures. He described the study as necessary for long-term fiscal health and useful when applying for grants. On the boat‑ramp project, the manager said a pre‑construction meeting already occurred and "they are planning on being in the river and starting construction in roughly 2 weeks," adding lower water levels could reduce some construction costs.

Council members asked the manager to circulate consultant details and supporting materials before the work session so members can review proposed financing options and grant opportunities. The manager agreed to provide the consultant's contact information and to bring data and timelines back to the council at the work meeting.
