Froedtert South representatives presented formal commendations to members of the Pleasant Prairie Fire and Rescue Department and police officers for two separate rescues that resulted in successful resuscitations. Staff said the incidents — one on May 28 and another on Sept. 28 — illustrate how rapid field interventions can change outcomes in otherwise low-probability cardiac-arrest cases.
Jeff Flash of Froedtert South, introduced as an EMS liaison and retired Kenosha fire captain, told the board: "I want you guys to know how much we appreciate everything that you guys do" and described the close relationship among hospital staff, firefighters and police in producing lifesaving results. The hospital read written commendations naming Lieutenant Joe Oczeski and several fire medics and police officers involved in the May 28 incident, and listed Assistant Chief Aaron Longry and multiple crew members for the Sept. 28 RecPlex response. The patient from the RecPlex, Roy Jensen, attended and said: "Their immediate response was critical to me having a successful resuscitation and recovery. I am forever grateful."
