Speakers at the manager’s recommended budget hearing sought more transparency about the AquaPlex operations. Aaron Weaver said he reviewed budget pages and found many 'N/A' entries for the AquaPlex since its 2022 opening and asked for attendance, revenue and performance metrics to be made public. "We need those clear performance metrics, attendance revenues," Weaver said.
Brenda Marks said she had sought profit-and-loss statements and expressed concern that AquaPlex data had been consolidated under the Coliseum fund and was not separately reported. City Manager responded that the AquaPlex was initially contracted to Eastern Sports Management (ESM) and that ESM did not keep some performance records the city would have expected. The manager said the city terminated that contract last calendar year, assumed direct management under the Coliseum Fund and is now collecting and will maintain the relevant metrics going forward.
