Township staff reviewed the proposed 2027 water fund budget aligned with the recently presented rate study. The presentation covered projected revenues (including reduced meter sales as new development timing shifts), transfers from operations to support debt service, and multiple capital projects: a water tower, a main extension along M‑59, a third PRV on the west side of the plant (Fox Ridge connection), and a $2,000,000 plant improvement line slated for bond funding. Staff also noted a SCADA upgrade ($23,000) and plans to replace older vehicles and streamline seasonal staffing.
The presenter said asset‑management inventory work continues so the township can better track mains, valves, plant assets and related depreciation. Staff emphasized that many operating staff costs are charged to the water fund and that reimbursements from other departments (parks, cemeteries) offset those expenditures. The budget discussion was presented as part of implementing the rate study assumptions and the planned CIP work.
