District readies routes and trains staff on four new electric buses

District transportation leadership told trustees all bus routes are prepared and that staff are training to operate four new electric buses, labeled E1 through E4. Superintendent Dr. Shealy said 75% of the previous year’s drivers returned, improving staffing consistency for routes and after-school shuttles.
Dr. Shealy said the district will showcase a new electric bus at the Electric Vehicle Fair on Saturday, Sept. 20, and that an electric van used by food services will also be highlighted. Administration described the electric buses as initial pilot routes: one vehicle assigned to each high school and one to an elementary route on each side of the lake, with flexibility for shuttles and after-school trips.
