Library touts strong summer programs; bilingual cookbook and local author showcase highlighted

Genesis, a Library and Cultural Services staff member, told commissioners that summer programs were well attended, citing the Friends of the Library book sale as a fundraising highlight and several family-oriented programs that drew strong participation. “We had another smashing success with our Friends of the Library book sale,” Genesis said, adding that the book sale receipts are the highest since before the pandemic.
Genesis also highlighted a city cookbook project that was translated into Spanish and Farsi, noting those are the two highest-use languages among library users: “It was translated into both Spanish and Farsi, which are our two highest use languages, within our library user population.” The library hosted a local author showcase with about 30 authors and staff presented the Poetry & Art Collaborative at the American Library Association conference in San Diego.
