The Hampton City Council approved a use permit allowing a funeral home and associated crematorium in an existing suite at 611 Rotary Street (Copeland Industrial Park). City planner Han Vu described the proposed interior retrofit—preparation room, walk‑in refrigeration and retort equipment—and said the facility would not be accessible to the general public; the planned crematorium would be intended to serve funeral homes, law enforcement and medical examiner needs.
Vu said staff recommended approval subject to seven standard use-permit conditions addressing parking, traffic circulation, certification of occupancy and related operational requirements. A representative for the applicant confirmed presence in the chamber; after closing the public hearing with no registered speakers, the council approved the use permit by roll call.
