Hampton’s planning staff presented rezoning application 25‑0076 by the Hampton Redevelopment and Housing Authority to allow the existing building at 1644 Briarfield Road to be used as a group home, juvenile residence or shelter. Staff described the structure (just under 8,000 square feet, with living space, common areas, kitchen and offices) and said the proposal is an adaptive reuse that aligns with city policies supporting housing for persons with special needs.
Staff recommended approval subject to 10 proffer conditions related to site fencing, signage, architectural style and lighting. There were no public speakers on the item and the council approved the rezoning by roll call.
