Williamstown planners say CVRPC special meeting prompts twice-monthly regional work

Chair Rich Turner said the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission (CVRPC) will hold a special meeting Aug. 21 to review Montpelier’s city plan and that Williamstown’s regional planning work will increase frequency to accommodate that review.
“Their special meeting is Aug. 21 to go over the Montpelier City Plan, all 300 pages. Our Regional Plan will now meet twice a month,” Turner said. Commissioners said the RPC staff will proceed chapter-by-chapter, starting with housing and the land-use map, cross-referencing policies between chapters.
Commissioners discussed mirroring elements of Montpelier’s plan where relevant and emphasized that the RPC is handling initial mapping work for the region internally. Turner noted the commission has begun drafting goals, strategies and policies for the region and expects more detailed packet reviews at upcoming meetings.
Turner also flagged that some RPC meetings lacked a quorum recently, which slowed progress on the first chapter, and asked members to attend the Sept. 8 presentation when CVRPC staff visit to present on Act 181 and the future land-use map.
