Ben Adams, who lives across from Lakeridge High School, told the board the district should consider negotiating with Crown Castle as the cell-tower lease renewal approaches, and offered his professional help in discussions and testing arrangements.
Adams said the tower is "100 feet from our house and 51 feet off the ground" and that May is probably when renewal conversations will ramp up; he urged the district to use business leverage in renewal negotiations and suggested district staff conduct renewal talks in public to ensure community visibility. “I would be more than happy to sit in and…give any kind of input in how that will be done,” he said, and requested the district consider on-site testing that would show radiation exposure on adjacent properties.
Board members thanked Adams for his engagement and affirmed they would consider his request as they continue discussions about the tower and any upcoming renewal.
