Council seeks applicants for Salary Commission, reviews hiring and RV park updates

During the old-business portion of the June 17 meeting, the council focused on several administrative and committee items.
Councilmember Bryson asked about applications to the Salary Commission; Mayor Peter Sharp said he had received only one application and will advertise locally, including on Soap Lake for Locals Facebook and in the Soap Lake newsletter. Bryson also reported the hiring committee has received a few applications and will continue reviewing candidates and making recommendations to the mayor.
Regarding the RV park and camp host, Councilmember Bryson said the city has received some applications and will continue to advertise; Public Works Director Olson said bookings are coming in and the gate installation and cleanup will be finished soon. Councilmember Carson said she expects an updated plan for the ROC grant within days and will forward it to Mona to be part of the application. Councilmember Carlson said he would consider leading the tourism committee but wants to review the requirements with City Attorney Norton, who said the requirements follow LTAC rules and are similar to other cities.
